GCIS INTELLIGENCE UPDATE:

MEXICO CITY (AP) - Two headless bodies are dumped on a street in suburban Mexico City along with a message sent by a mysterious group called "The Hand with Eyes." Days later, a severed head shows up in a car abandoned outside an elementary school in the same suburb.

For drug lords, this sprawling metropolis of 20 million has been a favorite hide-out and place to launder money, making Mexico City somewhat of an oasis from the brutal cartel violence along the border and in outlying states.

Now a spate of killings and decapitations never before seen have authorities batting down fears that a once-distant drug war is making its way into the capital. Instead, they say, the violence since late last year comes from street gangs fighting for an increasingly lucrative local drug market. (read full report)

GCIS INTELLIGENCE UPDATE:

For several months, the trickle of calls has been relentless. Almost every day, several people contact ANADIR with the suspicion of having being one of the babies stolen at birth from their natural Babies stolen at birth being investigatedmothers by 'child stealing' gangs operating in maternity hospitals across Spain during the years of Franco and the first years of democracy. ANADIR - (Asociación Nacional de Afectados por Adopciones Ilegales -National Association of People Affected by Illegal Adoptions), had now prepared an official demand that the Public Prosecutor setup a national investigation.

Many elderly people now live in fear that their children, who they were told be doctors or midwives had died at birth, are in fact alive and living with other families. Others know they are in the wrong home because their parents have confessed that they bought them from corrupt doctors or priests - but have no way of tracing their true parents and family.

So far, 261 people have already joined this partnership in search of answers. Together, and led by barrister Enrique Vila they have prepared a joint report, presented this morning to the Attorney General's Office, asking for an official committee to investigate what happened. (read full report)
